Which materials need paraffin as a coolant when being turned?

Which materials need paraffin as a coolant when being turned?

I've heard I should use this on brass and or aluminium? Right? Wrong? Bit of both?

I use it on Aluminium

Bob. You don’t need a lubricant/coolant for brass. Tools should also have no top rake, but still have the normal front and side rake. Mike W
